The Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Limited (BBTC) has officially intimated the stock exchanges regarding a significant board decision made on March 26, 2026. The Board of Directors has accorded its approval for the sale of a specific undertaking or division of the company. This strategic move is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to optimize its business portfolio and enhance shareholder value.
The proposed sale involves a division that contributed approximately ₹5.65 Crores (2.05%) to the company’s turnover and ₹7.10 Crores (3.76%) to its net worth in the previous financial year. The buyers identified for this transaction include Mr. Rangasamy and family members, along with Poomex Clothing Company, who do not belong to the promoter or promoter group. While definitive agreements are yet to be executed, the transaction is expected to be completed on a mutually agreed date. Notably, the company confirmed that this sale does not fall within related party transactions and is outside the Scheme of Arrangement.

The company operates a highly diversified business profile, with interests spanning tea and coffee plantations, auto electric components, healthcare products (dental and orthopedic), and real estate. In recent 2025 updates, the company made headlines for settling a disclosure lapse case with SEBI in January 2025, involving a settlement payment of ₹2.12 Crores by the corporation and its promoters. Additionally, in March 2025, the company declared a second interim dividend of 200% (₹4 per share) for the financial year 2024-25.
For the last quarterly results announced (Q3 FY26, ending December 31, 2025), the company reported a consolidated revenue of ₹5,065.89 Crores, marking an 8.13% growth compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The Net Profit for the same period stood at ₹654.82 Crores, reflecting a 4.4% increase year-on-year. On a sequential basis (QoQ), revenue grew by 2.49% from ₹4,942 Crores in September 2025. The company’s shareholding pattern as of December 2025 shows that promoters hold a dominant 74.05% stake, while famous institutional investors include Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) with a 9.42% holding. Mutual funds like Bandhan Small Cap Fund and Motilal Oswal Nifty 500 Index Fund also maintain investments in the corporation.
