SJVN Limited has announced via a regulatory filing that its wholly-owned subsidiary, SJVN Thermal Private Limited, is scheduled to achieve the commercial operation of Unit-II (660 MW) of the 1,320 MW (2×660 MW) Buxar Thermal Power Project on September 12, 2026, at 00:00 HRS. Located at Chausa in District Buxar, Bihar, this state-of-the-art supercritical project will produce approximately 9,828.72 Million Units of electricity per year, with 85% of power pre-allocated to Bihar under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement to strengthen peak-hour energy security across the Eastern Region.
SJVN Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) and a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh, is an integrated energy major with presence across hydro, thermal, solar, and wind generation.
