Shriram Finance Limited has officially approved the allotment of 47,11,21,055 fully paid-up equity shares to MUFG Bank Ltd.. This allotment, conducted on a preferential basis through private placement, was finalized during a Board Meeting held on April 8, 2026. The shares, with a face value of Rs. 2/- each, were issued at a price of Rs. 840.93 per share, representing a total investment of Rs. 3,96,17,98,28,781.15.

This capital infusion follows an Investment Agreement originally executed on December 19, 2025. As a result of this allotment, Shriram Finance’s paid-up equity share capital has increased from Rs. 3,76,31,30,742/- to Rs. 4,70,53,72,852/-. MUFG Bank Ltd., a premier Japanese financial institution, now holds a 20.00% post-issue stake in the company. These newly allotted shares will rank pari-passu with existing shares and are subject to a regulatory lock-in period.

Shriram Finance Limited is the flagship entity of the Shriram Group and stands as one of India’s largest retail asset financing Non-Banking Finance Companies (NBFC). Established in 1979, the company specializes in financing commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, MSME loans, gold loans, and passenger vehicles. Throughout 2025, the company focused on expanding its “Shriram One” digital application and secured significant external commercial borrowings, including a USD 306 million facility from development financial institutions.

For the quarter ended December 31, 2025, Shriram Finance reported a consolidated total income of Rs. 12,196.53 Crores, reflecting a 2.31% increase from the previous quarter’s Rs. 11,921.33 Crores (QoQ) and a 13.93% rise from Rs. 10,705.47 Crores in the same quarter last year (YoY). The consolidated net profit for the quarter stood at Rs. 2,529.65 Crores. While this represented an 8.35% increase from the previous quarter’s Rs. 2,334.89 Crores (QoQ), it was a 22.09% decrease compared to Rs. 3,246.85 Crores in the corresponding period of 2024 (YoY), primarily due to a high base effect from a one-time gain in the previous year. Prominent institutional investors in the company as of 2025 included various Mutual Fund schemes and a significant base of over 1,300 Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs).
