MSTC Limited has received approval from its administrative ministry to alter the Objects clause of its Memorandum of Association. The Board of Directors officially approved this proposal on 10th July 2026, allowing the company to venture into the business of travel agencies, tour operators, and allied activities through web-based platforms. This strategic shift is subject to shareholder approval, which will be sought through a forthcoming postal ballot.

This expansion follows a strategic partnership formed by MSTC earlier in 2025 with a major online travel tech platform. By entering the travel agency business, the company aims to leverage its existing extensive institutional and government client base to capture a share of the corporate travel market. This move is part of the company’s broader operational strategy as a Miniratna Category-I public sector undertaking.

MSTC Limited is a government-backed entity established in 1964, originally tasked with regulating the export of ferrous scrap from India. Currently, it functions as a prominent marketplace operator specializing in e-commerce, e-auctions, and e-procurement services for government and private sectors. Recent developments in 2025 include the launch of the ‘MSTC REALTY’ auction portal for property and the implementation of various e-auction platforms for timber, coal, and mineral blocks. The company also maintains a joint venture, Mahindra MSTC Recycling Pvt. Ltd., which operates vehicle scrapping facilities.

In the quarter ended June 2025, MSTC reported a standalone net profit of Rs 44.32 crore, marking a 9.54% increase compared to the Rs 40.46 crore reported in the same quarter of the previous year. Sales for the June 2025 quarter rose to Rs 77.43 crore, a 12.15% increase from Rs 69.04 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2024. While the company maintains a high promoter holding of 64.75%, there is no prominent individual “famous investor” widely cited in public reports for the company.
