Balrampur Chini Mills Limited has announced significant strategic decisions following its Board meeting on April 23, 2026. The Company plans to raise approximately ₹450 Crore through a preferential issue of equity shares and up to ₹200 Crore via Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs). These funds are earmarked for critical expansion projects, including a revised ₹3,080 Crore outlay for its Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) project and a new ₹160 Crore Gypsum Processing Plant.

In 2025, Balrampur Chini Mills made headlines with its pioneering entry into the “PLA” (bioplastic) sector, marking the first industrial-scale bioplastic project in India. Throughout that year, the company focused on diversifying its revenue streams beyond traditional sugar production into high-value green chemicals and sustainable materials. Market analysts in 2025 closely monitored the company’s ethanol blending progress, as it remained a key beneficiary of India’s aggressive ethanol blending program.

Balrampur Chini Mills Limited is one of India’s largest integrated sugar manufacturing companies, operating multiple factories across Uttar Pradesh. Beyond sugar, the company has a strong presence in distillery operations for ethanol and power co-generation. Recent updates highlight its shift toward sustainability, exemplified by the upcoming 80,000 TPA PLA project and the newly approved plant at Kumbhi designed to produce 76 lakh gypsum boards annually from manufacturing by-products.

During the last reported quarterly cycle in early 2026, the company demonstrated resilience in its core operations despite global supply chain pressures. While specific revenue and profit growth percentages for the immediate quarter were influenced by seasonal sugar crushing cycles, the company maintained a strong balance sheet to support its ₹3,080 Crore CAPEX. Notable investors in the company include the TATA Small Cap Fund, which is set to increase its stake through the newly announced preferential allotment of 20,70,393 equity shares.
