United Breweries Limited (UBL) has officially informed the stock exchanges about the launch of its new product, Kingfisher Smooth Strong Premium Beer, in the Maharashtra market effective March 31, 2026. This strategic expansion aims to strengthen the company’s presence in the mainstream strong beer segment, specifically catering to the domestic market. The launch is timed to capitalize on the upcoming peak consumption period and follows successful early consumer responses in states like Karnataka and Rajasthan.
The new variant, developed to offer a smoother and more approachable experience, is brewed using imported hops and contains no added sugar. According to Vikram Bahl, Chief Marketing Officer of UBL, the product responds to a consumer shift toward beverages that balance taste with strength. As of the launch date, the beer is available at leading retail outlets in Mumbai and Pune, with a wider rollout across Maharashtra scheduled for April 2026. Pricing for the new range starts at INR 120 for a 330 ml can, reaching up to INR 200 for a 650 ml bottle.
Headquartered in Bengaluru, United Breweries Limited is India’s largest beer manufacturer and a subsidiary of the HEINEKEN Company. The company maintains a diverse portfolio including Kingfisher Strong, Kingfisher Ultra, and Heineken® Original. Beyond alcoholic beverages, UBL produces packaged drinking water and soda. Recent corporate developments in 2025 highlighted UBL’s focus on premiumization and supply chain efficiency to counter inflationary pressures in glass and barley costs. The company continues to lead the Indian market, leveraging its extensive brewery network to maintain a dominant market share.
For the quarter ended December 31, 2025, United Breweries reported a resilient financial performance. The company’s revenue from operations stood at ₹18,240 Million, reflecting growth driven by volume increases in the premium segment. Net profit for the same period was reported at ₹850 Million, a significant improvement compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, aided by better operational margins and price hikes in key states. Notably, the company attracts interest from prominent institutional investors; as of late 2025, several large mutual funds and foreign portfolio investors maintained significant holdings, viewing UBL as a primary beneficiary of India’s evolving consumer discretionary landscape.
